Reflecting on my Portfolio Project Experience

Hello Blog Readers!

After what seems like countless hours of filming, editing, and doing research, I have officially finished my film opening and two CCR videos. Overall, I feel like this experience has been extremely rewarding. Not only has it taught me useful skills such as time management and planning, I have also learned how to use an editing program that was entirely new to me before taking Media Studies.

Along the way, while filming my opening, there have been no doubt a bunch of ups and downs. For example when I decided to completely change the plot of my opening, or when I almost had a panic attack while editing because Premiere Pro was showing me the "Media Offline" error (Thank you to Mrs. Stoklosa who saved me from having to re-edit everything). On a more positive note however, I had an amazing time filming at the beach with my parents and friends.

The day I was due to film my CCRs I started feeling super sick, but the show must go on! I filmed the clips anyways and edited them this past week (To be honest I was cringing the entire time).

If I were to do this project over again, with the new experience I have gained, the only thing I would do differently is plan better. I would make sure that there are absolutely zero plot holes before I start filming to avoid unnecessary work, and coordinate the right time of day to film in accordance with each scene.

Even though I don't plan to work in the film industry when I'm older, I am extremely grateful to have lived this experience because more that just gaining skills for myself, I have gained so much appreciation for producers, writers, editors, costume designers, set designers, and pretty much any seemingly insignificant role in a film that in reality is vital.

Thank you for your support throughout this experience, I will be posting my final products soon!
